The pump has a twin air motor and a three-way, two-position valve for advancing, releasing, or holding a single-acting cylinder. It has an internal pressure relief valve that helps protect the pump from overload.
This two-speed pump is for applications where there is little or no load initially, but where increased force is needed when the load is applied. When no load is present, the pump operates in the first stage, which has a faster flow rate. When the pump senses a load, it switches to the second stage, which requires fewer handle strokes and slows the flow rate to produce more pressure and move the load.
